After 14 years on television, 10 years online at phantomgourmet.com, and thousands of restaurant reviews all over New England, the Phantom Gourmet has finally entered the blogosphere.
Actually, I'm not the Phantom Gourmet. But I'll serve as the eyes, ears, and stomach of the beloved Purple Caped Critic on this blog.
As the executive producer and maitre'd of the Phantom Gourmet TV show on TV38, I'm one of the few people in the world that know the Phantom's true identity. I can't tell you who it is, if Phantom is male or female, or how many body piercings he/she has... but I can tell you this:
1) Phantom's got a huge freakin' appetite
2) Phantom's favorite foods include pizza, fresh-cut fries, lobster thermador, and fried clams.
3) Phantom isn't just one of Boston's best food writers, Phantom is one of the city's best writers period. Or exclamation mark.
Here's my personal eating update for the day...
This morning, I had a couple slices of leftover pepperoni that I got delivered from Pizzeria Regina last night.

For lunch... I took my wife Ali and my baby boy Zach (one month old) to McCormick & Schmick's in Faneuil Hall. Ali had a chicken pecan salad... I had an extremely tasty almond crusted rainbow trout. Zach went to town on the calamari... he's got a sophisticated palette for a newborn.
And for dinner... as Granda Fabulous Judi watched the world's hungriest baby... Ali and I ordered up spring rolls, crispy pad thai, and spicy green beans at Thai Village in the South End, followed by some kind of wacky frosting-stuffed chocolate chip cookie from Francesca's.
It's restaurant week, so all the places up and down Tremont Street in the South End were packed. Thai Village wasn't taking part in restaurant week, so it was totally empty, and a perfectly quiet, tasty escape.
DUNKIN' COUNT- one medium coffee, cream, one splenda
FOOD OF THE DAY- almond crusted trout from M & S
ZACH TRICK OF THE DAY- partial smile when I bounced him high up in the air

Hi!
I love the Phantom Gourmet show. Unfortunately, I live in DC, so I can't watch it on a regular basis. Have you ever thought about taking road trips to other cities? I would really like to see Phantom hit the streets of DC and see what he thinks of some of our restaurants....I am definitely sure he would find a few gemstones.
I just wrote a blog post about your show today....check us out!
